Add a page to a PDF

Add a blank page to a PDF in the browser: drop the file above, add the page from the thumbnail sidebar, write or draw on it, and click Download. To add pages that already exist in another PDF, use Merge instead; both happen on your device, nothing is uploaded.

Drop a PDF to add a pageor click to choose. It opens in the viewer on this site, nothing is uploaded.Free, no account, no watermark. The file stays in this browser tab.

How to add a blank page to a PDF

  1. Open the PDF with the drop box above or the Open a PDF button.
  2. In the thumbnail sidebar, use the add-page control. A blank page appears at the end of the document.
  3. If the page belongs somewhere else, drag its thumbnail up to the right position.
  4. Click the new page and fill it: Text for typed notes, Draw for handwriting, Image for a PNG or JPG, Signature to sign.
  5. Click Download. The new page and whatever you put on it are saved into the file.

Common uses: a notes page at the end of a contract, a cover sheet moved to the front, an extra signature page, or a page to paste a photo of a receipt. Writing on the page uses the same tools as writing on any PDF.

Adding pages from another PDF

If the page you need already exists in another document, do not retype it. Click Merge, pick that PDF, and all its pages are appended after the last page of the current file. Then drag the ones you want into place and delete the rest. This is also how to insert a scanned signature page or an ID copy into an application. The full procedure is on merge PDF.

If the page exists only as an image, such as a photo of a document, add a blank page and place the picture on it with Image. For a true image-to-PDF conversion with page sizing options, see JPG to PDF.

What the added page looks like elsewhere

The blank page is a real PDF page object created by pdf-lib, so it prints and displays in Acrobat, Preview and mobile readers as a normal page. Text added with the Text tool is embedded as a font, including non-Latin scripts such as Cyrillic and Arabic, so it stays legible on a machine that does not have your fonts installed.

Drawings and signatures are stored as annotations attached to the page. They show up everywhere, but a drawn signature is an image, not a certificate-based e-signature; if a recipient needs a cryptographic signature, that is an Acrobat or DocuSign job.

Limits

  • Blank only, at the end. The new page is empty and lands last. Drag it to reposition. There is no "insert page after page 4" dialog.
  • No page from a Word file. To add a page that lives in a .docx, print or export that document to PDF first (Word to PDF), then merge.
  • No form fields on the new page. The viewer adds text on top of a page; it does not create fillable fields.
  • Not an editor for existing text. You can add new words on a page but not change the ones already there. Cover the old text with Whiteout and type over it if needed; see edit text in a PDF.

Other tools for the same job: Acrobat's Insert Pages (blank or from file, at any position), Preview on macOS (Edit > Insert > Blank Page or Page from File), PDFsam Basic merge, and qpdf for combining files. Smallpdf and iLovePDF insert pages too, but the document is uploaded to their servers first.

Three ways people add a page to a PDF

The same control serves different jobs. Pick the pattern that matches yours.

GoalSteps in the viewer
Cover sheetAdd a blank page, drag it to the top, use Text for the title and recipient, Image for a logo
Signature pageAdd a blank page at the end, type the date and name with Text, place a drawn Signature, Download
Supporting documentMerge the ID copy, receipt or certificate PDF, then drag its pages behind the section they support
Handwritten notesAdd a blank page, switch to Draw; this works on an iPad in the browser as well
Photo evidenceAdd a blank page, Image to place the PNG or JPG, one photo per page for readability

In all cases the original file on disk is untouched; Download writes a new one. If the recipient needs to see your additions in a reader that hides annotations, print the downloaded file to PDF once to flatten everything onto the page. For a signature page specifically, the walkthrough at sign a PDF without printing covers placement and sizing.
